My name is Romina Cohen.  I am a Court Certified Spanish Interpreter.  I have extensive experience in criminal, civil, dependency,

juvenile and family law.  I work for the Los Angeles Superior Court of California interpreting for criminal and civil matters.  I also freelance as an Independent Contractor in the private sector interpreting for all types of civil and family law matters.

 

Interpretation deals with spoken words.  Interpreters are language specialists who do more than just simply translate words, they relay concepts and ideas between languages.  Interpretation requires that one understands what is communicated in both languages and expresses thoughts and ideas clearly.  The two most common modes of interpretation are: simultaneous and consecutive.

Translation deals with written words.  It is the comprehension of text and the subsequent production of an equivalent text, likewise called a "translation."  Translators must thoroughly understand the subject matter in which they work in order to accurately convey information from one language into another. Translators & Interpreters play an important role in the evolution of languages & cultures.
